Joe Murphy Takes the Cake on Beat Bobby Flay

September 7, 2023 – Our founding chef Joe Murphy paid homage to his hometown on the recent episode of Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay,” putting his Michelin-star spin on the classic Brooklyn Blackout Cake in his challenger recipe against Bobby Flay.

Now in its 33rd season, “Beat Bobby Flay” puts the world’s top chefs up against each other, and then ultimately celebrity chef Bobby Flay, in a fast-paced head-to-head cooking showdown. Joe brought the heat from the kitchen from Round 1, up against fellow Michelin-star chef Laura Ochikubo from The French Laundry.

In this episode – “Cheri Takes the Cake” – celebrity judges Cheri Oteri (former SNL cast member) and Zac Young (pastry chef) loved everything Joe Murphy put out of the kitchen! From the baking banter to his choice recipe to go up against Bobby Flay in the final round: the Brooklyn Blackout Cake!
